Each activity lasts for one week, and is sometimes repeated in the second week. The exception to this is ESL where the second week will be a continuation of the work started in the first week. For those students starting the ESL program within the second week, integration within the already established program is facilitated.
For the seventh year running CIS Summer School will be offering the opportunity for students to take part in an original Drama workshop. This program hopes to develop the workshop method further by creating alternative possibilities of performance to include more music and possibly the creation of their very own characters!

Does your child love to perform? Do they enjoy writing stories? Do they want the chance to see their ideas come to life on stage? In drama summer school, they will be given support, guidance and freedom to develop these skills..
We will look at the many aspects of putting on a play – such as character and plot, costume and set design. We will use games and improvisation to develop teamwork and imaginative ideas. Over the course of the week, the group will write, organize and rehearse their own show, culminating in a performance for parents on the final day.

Spend your summer learning Irish dancing!
Irish dancing is an energetic and challenging form of dancing, which provides the children with great exercise and fun experiences to lively music.
During the course dancers will work with basic steps and coordination exercises, leading up to a light choreography.
Dancers need no previous experience with Irish dancing. All you need to do is to bring gym clothes and an interest in learning new steps.

During this week, students will focus on the development of conversational English. We will concentrate on the days of the week, the months of the year, and the seasons. Once having explored these concepts, we will then move onto comparative and descriptive vocabulary. Students will learn to describe their environment, and master terminology concerning the colours, shapes, and articles of clothing. We may also learn the names of the body parts, words for items found around the school, and terms concerning objects found in each of their homes.
This course will be tailored to the needs of the children and its content may change to suit their needs more effectively. The pre-course questionnaire must be filled out and returned to us before the start of the course to ensure that the course is properly tailored to the students taking part.
Through the medium of computers, students with ESL needs can focus on acquiring language skills and vocabularly in a relaxed manner.
The focus on skills related to basic and intermediate use of common Programs, Applications and Design Tools including:

Morning Session: Ages 6-12

The summer sports programme each afternoon is designed to give the participants a chance to show, improve or maybe uncover talents and skills in a number of different activities. During the programme the participants will work on various fundamental skills, like hand eye coordination, and enjoy using the extensive array of equipment in the Sports Hall.
All days will include 2 different activities for all participants. The activities can take place indoors as well as outdoors, so it is very important to bring both indoor and outdoor shoes.
The weather in Denmark is never very reliable so warmer clothes for outdoor activities might be needed. No matter whether we are indoor or outdoor, we plan to have a good time being active for the full hour and a half, so bringing a water-bottle for re-hydration is strongly recommended.
The Copenhagen International School is pleased to offer Danish for Beginners. This is primarily an introduction to the language, where we integrate all four language skills (speaking, listening comprehension, reading and writing) into beginner’s lessons. While in class, students develop speaking skills through dialogue, role-play and interview techniques.

We teach pronunciation intensively and systematically. In class your children will alternate between experimenting on your own, imitating, and practicing. They will, moreover, will work independently, in pairs, and in groups.
This year we are excited to offer a summer program for the younger students (Ages 4-6). Through differentiated activities, the summer school program assures developmentally-appropriate practice to accommodate all learners. The two week program is an excellent opportunity for children to engage in exciting, fun learning activities to further stimulate their language and social skills. The early childhood summer program is based on the PYP curriculum and is open to all students ages 4-6. The daily schedule will include music, drama, physical education, and art to engage your child's interests. The focus is to provide a wide-range of language-building activities in a positive, play-based setting. Your child will enjoy exploring the many interesting learning experiences.
